Term 6 Week 2 - 8th June - 12th June 2020

Hello My Hard Working Home Learners

It has been lovely to see your fantastic Home Learning this week. Lots of you have been sending in pictures of your writing and your maths learning, as well as telling us about the smoothies you have made and gnome / fairy gardens you have created. I have also liked the different way people have shared facts about themselves. Well done! There have definitely been marbles going into different year group pots this week. Staff have enjoyed talking to lots of you on the telephone this week and will continue this next week. It has been lovely to hear how lots of you have enjoyed carrying out some of the activities with your brothers or sisters.

Following on from Mrs Bennett's letter about Term 6 learning I would like to remind you all that I would like to see one piece of English and maths learning every week. I have highlighted the pieces of learning I would like to see on your timetable - please only send us the learning we have requested otherwise we will not be able to respond to everyone.

From this week all year groups will be using Oak Academy for their English learning. This is a sequence of lessons and needs to be accessed in the correct order as it builds up to a writing piece on Friday. I have therefore, put days of the week along the top of your timetables, as we would like you to do the learning on set days going forward. Please follow the Oak Academy links on your plans and it will take you to the correct videos.

When you are doing your White Rose maths it is really important to watch the videos and then complete the sheets. The learning is in topics and you may have already covered some of the information. However, by re-visiting this again it will help with your retrieval of knowledge and deepen your understanding. Please do not do another year group’s sheets. The Nrich challenge will also develop and deepen your understanding and reasoning skills and this needs to be shown in your answers. If your Mum or Dad are unsure about our approach to maths at Flax, they can look under the Curriculum heading on the website and then click on the maths section.

There are Recovery Curriculum discussion starters on the plan to enable you to talk about how you are feeling whilst carrying out your outdoor or cookery activity.

I look forward to receiving your learning next week.

Stay safe and healthy

Lots of Virtual Flax hugs

Mrs Gregory
