Local walk #1
As part of our 'where in the the world is Flax Bourton?' topic, we went on an adventure to explore Flax. We passed lots of children's houses which was very exciting, then we stopped off at the Church. Rev. James read us a story about the wise man who built his house on a rock, and then told us how the church had been built very well and was over 1000 years old! He gave us a tour of the church and we got to find out about lots of spcial parts of the church, such as the font, where lots of children had been christened. We looked at a painting of the last supper and found out about how Christian's mark this in their service. Then we shared our own little meal of fruit and squash, very kindly provided by Alison and Peter. After that, we went to visit the coolest farmer in Flax, Granny Margaret, who set up a treasure hunt around the farm, let us feed the horses, Horace and Jenny, and fed us some delicious home made biscuits. Finally, we walked back to school via the cycle path and found out some interesting facts about the little hills, which used to house fuel during WW2.
Thank you to all the volunteers who made our walk so enjoyable and we are looking forward to part 2 of our adventure- a walk around Farleigh Green.
