Hello Maple Parents,
This is now the page where you can access our weekly home learning during our school closure.
You can do as much or as little as you like, but there is plenty for you to get on with throughout the week. Each child has been given a phonics booklet, a handwriting booklet and a tricky words booklet. Please only do as many pages as we say in the weekly plan, otherwise you will run out of activities over the next few weeks. There are additional ideas and resources on the main website here: https://www.flaxbourton.n-somerset.sch.uk/learning-from-home/
Every week, we'll be posting a new weekly plan, maths learning and any other resources here, by Friday at 4pm. We have given each of you a pack for your first week of learning, to save you any additional worries over printing, but in future weeks it will be really helpful if you are able to print some things out for your child.
Have fun, do as much/little as you want and be kind to yourselves- don't give yourself any additional pressures at this time! We'll be looking into ways of keeping in touch via video/ streaming soon, so keep a look out!
You are your child's new teacher! (with some very experienced teachers to do your planning!) Good luck everyone- you'll be amazing!

Believe it or not, it's half term next week! That means we all get a well deserved break to enjoy the sunshine and put our feet up!
The week after, we are planning to return Y1 to school, and you will be getting more detailed information from Mrs Bennett soon about which class your child is in, classrooms, teachers and further logistics.
In the meantime, enjoy these lovely pictures of home learning this week....
Home learning 18th - 22nd May 2020
We hope you're all well and happy. It's been fantastic chatting to you all this week, and it sounds like you are all doing a fantastic job of juggling life right now, so give yourselves a big pat on the back! It was soooooo lovely to hear the children's voices and made us realise even more how much we miss our wonderful Maple bunch!
This is the last week of home learning before we have a week off for half term. Mrs Bennett will get in touch with you about the planned opening of schools, but as it is constantly changing, and we are trying to work out some very complicated logistics, please bear with us- we'll let you know as soon as we can!
We have included some BBC bitesize and some other writing activities, as I know some of you have been missing the more open ended writing tasks. If you would prefer to stick with bitesize, please do, it is all there for you to access.
Remember, we are working a week behind in White Rose maths, so this week you will be doing Week 4 (WC 11th May). White Rose aren't providing the activities anymore from week 4, but we have a school subscription, so have attached them to the resources on this page.
We hope you have a lovely week of home learning before a relaxing week off. Please see below for pictures of your amazing learning from last week and a little gem from Mrs Stillwood!
Take care and carry on being awesome!

Hello Maple Class,
We would like to start by saying a HUGE thank you for the fantastic video you made for us! It has made us all feel really happy and we have been singing the song to ourselves all week. It was lovely to see your faces and your fantastic dance moves. What an awesome class you are!
We hope you enjoy the learning for next week. Thank you for all the brilliant photos you have been sending us, we love to see what you have been doing.
White Rose have changed the way they are producing their resources and so you will now find the 'Flashback 4' for the start of each session on a separate PowerPoint.
Have a super week and we look forward to seeing some more of lovely photos.
Home learning 4th - 8th May
Dear wonderful Maple families,
We hope you’re all doing OK. We miss you lots and want to reassure you that whatever you’re doing, you’re doing great! We know that everyone is in a different situation, some of you may be doing loads of home learning, some of you may be finding it a battle, some of you may be struggling to get any done at all. Some of you are working, some of you have a house full of kids to look after. We understand that, and want you to know that you are not under pressure from us. The most important thing is all of your wellbeing! Thank you for sending in photos- it's so lovely to hear from you all, so please carry on doing that- whether it's home learning or something else.
This week’s home learning and photos follow, as well as a few notes…
Remember you can pick and choose from the plan and colour in as you go. The English and Maths are in order, but if you want to do 3 in a row by all means do. Also the curriculum activities can be done in any order.
We are working a week behind with White Rose, because we only started using the home learning in week 2 of lockdown. This also gives us a chance to have a look through the home learning before we give it to you.
Numbots is pretty much the best thing your child can do in maths right now. It will prepare them for the next step in their year 2 learning, when they start to develop multiplication and division skills. A few parents have been asking about Times Table Rockstars. We start this half way through year 2, because that is when they start to learn that division is the inverse of multiplication. If you feel like your child needs more of a challenge, we have included some extra activities this week, but don’t feel under pressure to use them.
Hopefully you’re all enjoying the bug club books. Please note that when you have read a book, you need to click on the green bug and answer a couple of questions before it is marked as read. Then we can see when we need to allocate you some new books.
That’s the end of this week’s mammoth message! Look after yourselves and we’ll send some more videos soon!
Love Team Maple xxx

Hello you wonderful lot!
We hope you're all having lots of fun at home with your families, and that you are enjoying your home learning. We've heard that your new teachers are doing a great job! Well done Mums and Dads!
We have found a great maths resource for you to use at home, which is the same as what we'd be doing at school. It has a video to do the teaching and then some activities to follow it up. We'll be starting with week 1 weight and mass this week on https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/
We have allocated our reading levels on the bug club for phonics books. Some of you have got in touch to say the levels are not quite right. Please bear with us, as they are different to the ones we use at school and we don't have all of our reading lists with us at home. If your child has read the books we have allocated, please send a quick email to Class Maple account and we'll change it for you.
Also have a look at the oxford reading tree website, where they have loads of reading books similar to the ones we use at school. There is a handy table which will tell you which level your child is on here https://cdn.oxfordowl.co.uk/2019/07/19/13/52/18/160/OxfordLevelsAndBookBands.png
Remember, there are loads more resources on the curriculum learning from home page https://www.flaxbourton.n-somerset.sch.uk/learning-from-home/ including lots of reading websites.
Please send us pictures of any amazing learning you have been doing (including things on and off the learning grid!). We will publish them during the week for everyone to see. Unfortunately, we can't publish videos on our website but photos of children doing something or a picture of their learning would be great!
In the meantime, have fun you guys! We miss you lots but we know you're all letting your lights shine really brightly at home too!
Love from Team Maple xx

AMAZING HOME LEARNING!
Every week, we will post pics of all the amazing learning you have been doing. Please send any amazing learning to the Class Maple account to get a spot on here!
Well done everyone. We can't wait to see what you've been up to (It doesn't have to be something from our learning grid, just some learning that you are really proud of!)
We miss you lots and look after yourselves, Team Maple x
