Home Learning

Dear Chestnut Parents,

Whilst school is closed we will be posting weekly home learning on this page. We are very lucky in Chestnut to have Tapestry and we will be using this to support you as much as we possibly can to help you teach your child at home. Chestnut learning is always hands on and lots of fun and we will be hoping to continue this provision in your homes with you as the teachers. We know that many of you will also be working, whilst trying to look after your little ones, and fully appreciate this. Hopefully the ideas we share will be fun for all of the family! We know there will be days when you do little and days when you can do more, please just do what you can.

Tomorrow morning (Monday 23rd) we will allocate Bugclub books, please use the class e-mail to let me know if you have any problems, you can record reading in the home reading record as usual.

We fully appreciate that this is a very difficult time for you and our little Chestnuts ,we are so sad not to be able to be with them, but we have every faith that with our expert support you will be able to support your child's learning at this challenging time. The Team Chestnut tree has just grown and they are lucky to have such supportive families.

Please check Tapestry regularly, we will be using this as a learning platform as well.

Please take care, stay in touch and stay safe.

Love

Mrs Williams, Mrs Hutchings & Mrs Larthe xxx

Reading & Keywords

In Chestnut class, we would like you to read a few pages from the books we send home at least 4 times per week. Please don't feel like you need to comment in your child's reading record every time, unless you want to, just a date and your initials are fine. Please don't let these books replace lovely bedtime stories and other opportunities for you to read to your child, story language and vocabulary are both a vital part of reading. key words, please practice these frequently with your child and we will check them in school, rewarding your child with stickers. Use ideas from the Phonics and Reading Workshop in Term 1 to help.

Home Learning

Please see termly Curriculum Webs for ideas for Home Learning and please post anything you do with your child on their Tapestry account, we love to see lots!

From term 2 we send home phonics sheets that fit in with the phonics we are learning at school that week.
